Productivity Assessment of Rock Transportation Trucks Using Simulation Technology

چکیده
A new container terminal is currently constructed in South Korea in order to handle ever increasing goods transported. The proposed terminal site is partially occupied by a rock mountain that should be removed to provide necessary aggregates and eventually a flat land. A total of 23 million cubic meters of rocks are to be excavated from this mountain, and the port authority wants to get it done within 30 months. As many as 100 dump trucks are expected to be hired every day to transport rocks to be blasted at least 10 different locations on the mountain. Anticipating the congestion that might be caused by many trucks running on the mountain roads at the same time, the stochastic simulation technique was utilized to figure out whether it would affect the rock production. This paper shares lessons learned from the process of creating a simulation model and implementing it in the visual framework.

An interactive simulation model of human drivers to study autonomous haulage trucks
Driverless haulage trucks have recently been developed for open pit mines. To predict the benefits of an Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), a deterministic/stochastic model has been created to compare AHS to a manual system by estimating benchmarked Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, safety, breakdown frequencies, maintenance and labor costs, fuel consumption, tire wear, and ...

This study assessed the effect of rural-urban transportation on agricultural produce in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. Primary data obtained from 90 rural farming households were analysed using frequency count, Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression analysis and mean score from a 3 point Likert type of scale. Results of the study revealed that majority of the farmers were m...
متن کاملAn Assessment of Tank Truck Roll Stability
Transport Canada’s Dangerous Goods Directorate (TDG) data base of crashes involving a vehicle carrying dangerous goods shows 810 rollovers in 1,874 reported crashes from 1990 to 1998, and 83% of these involved highway tank trucks. TDG is therefore considering approaches to improve the rollover stability of tank trucks used for highway transportation of dangerous goods. TDG asked the Centre for ...
متن کاملA simulation optimization method for internal trucks sharing assignment among multiple container terminals
Owing that the internal trucks (ITs) are frequently used as transportation equipments between yards and quaysides, the transportation efficiency of ITs secures a crucial position in container terminal productivity. Hence, a container terminal cannot contain a big number of ITs. As such, it is an imperative to explore an appropriate IT assignment strategy. Specifically for those container termin...

This paper studies multiple cross-dockings where the loads are transferred from origins (suppliers) to destinations (customers) through cross-docking facilities. Products are no longer stored in intermediate depots and incoming shipments are consolidated based on customer demands and immediately delivered to them to their destinations. In this paper, each cross-docking has a covering radius tha...
